For being the skiddish little thing that he is, Kent LOVES his bugs (much to my dismay). I think he would adopt a hornet if he could get his hands on one. We bought him a bug box at WalMart a couple of weeks ago, and Daddy always makes sure to have a new critter hanging out in the bug house. Fortunately for me they only survive the night if they're lucky (and there's a nice solid door to shut them in the box). Anyhow, the pix are of Kent's "lighting bugs" as he calls them.
Though he disgusts me with his infatuation with bugs, he thrills me to no end with his reading. I have been taking it very slow with his Bob books as he can only seem to get through a couple of pages without losing interest and ready for the next thing. Today, however, he read through the 4th book for the first time, and he read it in its entirety! It included several new words, and I think he's beginning to pick up the general concept of reading and we're getting away from sounding everything out. He's finally figuring out some of our site words, as well.
Arielle's language skills are snowballing. Even this last week, she has been using more new phrases each day and surprises me with how much she comprehends. Here's our most recent favorite: "A Nini, Daddy?" to be interpreted, "Whatcha doing, Daddy?"
I have been up to my eyebrows in sorting the kids old clothes. I'm selling all of the girls stuff and handing down the boy clothes to Jackson William (Kent & Rella's October cousin). Thanks to all of the grandmothers and the wanna-be grandmothers who have lost their minds in TJ Maxx and Marshals, etc, we will be able to retire off of the income from selling Arielle's clothes. I'm looking forward to this project being a thing of the past and also gaining some extra storage space and containers :)
