October 10th, 2007, 8:00 a.m. - Take possession of new home.
Yes, it actually happened and we are moved in. Not unpacked, but we're in. I still have basil at the old house, we need to clean out the fridge, and mow the grass and the rental is history. As you will see in the pix, we have lots of boxes to unpack but for the most part, the majority of the house is functional and uncluttered. The basement and garage are a disaster, but I hope I'm not unrealistic in thinking I'll be done in a week. We have had lots of company already and between church happenings and living real life, we haven't had much time to enjoy our new home (or unpack for that matter). Besides, it's hard to feel like home when you're still living around boxes and wondering where this is and that is. All of our neighbors are young couples with young children or no children yet. There are 6 families in our circle, and we've all met already. There are only 10 families in the community at this point, and one of them is throwing a grilling party on Saturday night so we can all meet and get to know one another. I've already decided to give a Christmas "party" with cider, AE Egg Nog, and I'll play Christmas music on my new baby grand.
By the way, God was very good to me on my piano. I was intending to buy the bottom dollar baby grand, which is also the bottom of the line quality, but that's fine for a living room with 9-feet ceilings. But God gave me more than I could ask or think and I was able to upgrade to a Bergman (which is really a Young Chang) for very little more and is double the quality and price. They just happened to have a "big sale" on this specific Bergman. And it's lovely. We finally were able to tune it yesterday, and the tuner told me to be sure to play it a lot. I don't think that will be a problem. I'm still in shock over it every time I walk past it. I wonder if I'll ever walk by it without my heart doing flip flops??
All other things are going great! The church is doing well and we're averaging 30 on Sunday morning and usually in the 20s in the evenings.
The weather has been wet and sloppy (perfect fall weather and with my fireplace, it's just what the doctor ordered). The trees are turning and we have a big park backing up to our community, so we can enjoy a host of trees every time we leave the house.
I promise soon I'll get back to updating more regularly.
